The Schratt group is associated member of the SNSF-funded NCCR “RNA&Disease”, a Swiss-wide consortium which investigates the role of RNA in disease mechanisms. In the second call for PhD fellowships for associate member labs, a joint project from the Schratt and Pillai (Geneva) groups was selected for funding. The goal of this project is to elucidate the functional role of RNA methylation in synaptic scaling, a form of neuronal plasticity which is important for brain development and often disturbed in neurological diseases, such as autism and epilepsy.
